In
order to be an international person, you need a good command of languages
plus a good general education. You must be able to change the content
and way of expression to meet the purpose of the communication. Attitude,
ability, basic knowledge and humanitarian ideas are also required for
cross-cultural understanding. We want to help our students broaden their
basic knowledge. By cultivating rational and ethical thinking, we want
to train and encourage them to have their own opinions and be able to
express them.
An important characteristic of the General Education department at our
university is that we have removed the traditional subject divisions
between humanities, social science and natural science: Students are
now able to freely choose subjects based on personal interests. We have
made "Basic Seminar" and " Data Processing I" required subjects because
we believe the ability to express oneself in Japanese and competently
use information technology is necessary for survival in the 21st century.
