In principle, most students admitted to the programs will be exchange
students from colleges and universities overseas with which NUFS has signed
an academic or student exchange agreement. However, we may accept applications
from other students enrolled in post-secondary
educational programs. Such applicants
must obtain a strong recommendation from their faculty advisor or academic
director. Since our programs are highly academic, it is recommended that
the cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of
applicants be above 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. As the Japanese Studies Courses are conducted in English, it
is necessary for applicants for full-time study to have an adequate command
of English.
Japanese language requirements for each program are as follows:
Contemporary Japan Program in Nagoya (C Program)
Previous Japanese language training is not a requirement for admission
to the C Program.
Japanese Language and Japanese Studies Program (J
Program)
Since there is no introductory-level class,
applicants must have completed at least one semester of Japanese language
study at the university level or
its equivalent.
