Enhance your advanced English skills and business acumen in order to be active on the center stage of a global society
Once confined only to foreign investment firms, in Japan today there is no business that can afford to ignore the rising tide of globalization. An ability to speak English will almost certainly make you a more desirable job candidate, regardless of the position. But the reality of global society is that English is spoken back and forth on a daily basis at many workplaces\simply being able to speak English on a conversational level will not allow you to truly shine in the business world. Those who are really in demand are those who have built, upon a foundation of linguistic ability, knowledge useful in a global society, an awareness of the zeitgeist, and a bevy of English skills. Our goal at the Department of Global Business is to provide education in skills that will be truly useful in the real world, formulating student career plans which focus on providing the knowledge and know-how outlined above.
Our curriculum will transform your desire to use English skills in business into concrete objectives and goals you wish to achieve
Making full use of English language skills, the motto of the Department of Global Business is to provide business education unique to the Nagoya University of Foreign Studies. Based upon a foundation of English language education and information education, in an attempt to provide wide-ranging knowledge that will prove useful in a global society, we have developed a four-field curriculum including a management track, a marketing track, a finance track and an accounting track supported by the three pillars of economic and social theory, corporate and organizational administration theory and the theory of using information to bring the world closer together. Students are able to formulate their own career plans by envisioning the career paths they wish to take, for example administrative management, finance, accounting, public relations, planning, travel, tourism and service industries. This allows students to study specialized fields while also learning a wide range of subjects.
The gIEPh and gESPh English language courses common throughout the department are used to allow students to engage in the overall study of specialized, practical English skills needed in the world of business. Based upon this fundamental ability, students furthermore enhance their business skills as a global citizen by coming to an understanding of administration from a foreign perspective, and then carrying out comparisons with the Japanese economy and finally expressing their findings in English. In addition, career plan guidance is implemented from the summer of the first year in order to promote career awareness in students from an early stage. Also, a business school is held at summer camp during the second year of the program, while business research forums are held during the winter and summer of the second year and classroom-focused practical study is held in the third and fourth years, in addition to the provision of specialized seminars.
We will transform your vague desire to guse English in business somehowh into a set of clear goals through our thoroughly-implemented educational program, molding you into the kind of person who is capable of playing an active role in the field of your choice.
