Japan is entering a new era, characterized by the advancement of multicultural coexistence and a declining birthrate and aging population. What is required in this era is a fluid and dynamic process that sends to the world individuals who are capable of bringing global knowledge back to Japan, while also attracting people from abroad to Japan. The School of Global Liberal Arts is dedicated to realizing this process, with the philosophy of cultivating “new-generation global human resources.” It comprises two departments: the “Department of Global Liberal Arts” and the “Department of International Japanese Studies.” The Department of Global Liberal Arts focuses on the world, while the Department of International Japanese Studies focuses on Japan, aiming to cultivate human resources who can bring global knowledge back to Japan and promote the appeal of Japan to the world. In both departments, the foundation of learning is to develop proficiency in foreign languages (English and other languages) and Japanese, as well as to enhance cultural understanding and gain specialized knowledge in languages, literature, culture, art, history, society, religion, and other areas related to Japan and the world.
