School of World Liberal Arts
The School of World Liberal Arts examines the world and Japan from a multifaceted viewpoint to develop global human resources with the skills to be active in multiple countries and generations

Introducing the School of World Liberal Arts, which aims to develop global human resources with the skills to be active in multiple countries and generations!

Japan is entering a new era of increasing co-existence between multiple cultures within Japan, as well as a declining birthrate and ageing population. To thrive in this era, Japan requires a fluid, dynamic process in which global human resources are sent into the world who can bring global knowledge back to Japan, and many people are also drawn from overseas to Japan. To accomplish this, the School of World Liberal Arts’ educational philosophy is to develop “Next-generation global human resources.” It has two departments, the Department of Word Liberal Arts and Department of International Japanese Studies. The Department of Word Liberal Arts focuses on the world, while the Department of International Japanese Studies focuses on Japan, to develop human resources who can study the world and Japan in a bidirectional manner, bring global knowledge back to Japan, and share the appealing features of Japan with the rest of the globe. Founded on learning to master foreign languages (English and other languages) and Japanese alike with a high level of proficiency, the School of World Liberal Arts teaches “glocal” (global and local) liberal arts and specialized knowledge.
